The dark ruby-colored 2005 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon resembles a classic Bordeaux both in aromatics and flavor. A rich bouquet of cinnamon, spice, licorice, graphite and caramel are followed by integrated layers of cherry, currant, fresh cream and balanced, sweet tannin, all of which contribute to a youthful, bright, multi-layered wine.

The wine is a hybrid between California and Bordeaux styles, structured and balanced with plenty of fruit.The palate is complex and layered with dark cherry and plum, thyme and basil, and Eastern spice flavors slowly unfolding in the wine.

Originally of French origins this versatile grape produces exceptional wines around the globe. Usually medium to full bodied with a fine structure that supports black and red fruit flavors with typical notes of olive, chili and herbs adding complexity.

2006 Kendall-Jackson Grand Reserve - $15.00/58.00 (G/B)

Well-defined currants, blackberry, blueberry and cassis make for abundant fruit on the attack. Sturdy, complex tannins balance the acidity throughout. Notes of smoke, mocha, cedar and lots of rich oak round off the long, earthy, heady finish.

2005 Terra Valentine Napa Valley - $14.00/56.00 (G/B)
The nose opens with deep plum, violets, cedar and bittersweet chocolate. Bright cola berry follows with notes of caramel and dried fig and a lingering, dark cocoa finish.
